What do you do at Neighborhood Church?

I’ve been the church Secretary/Administrator since 1998.  My job includes keeping a record of giving, paying bills, doing the banking, monthly financial reports, payroll and all the reports that go with it, the calendar, the weekly bulletin, and anything else that comes up.

Family:

I’ve been married to my husband, Phil, for over 30 years. Our oldest son James and his wife, Weslie, live in Kenwood and our younger son, John, is going to Santa Rosa Junior College with an astronomy career in mind.

Hometown:

We moved to Healdsburg from Chico in 1981 when my husband got a teaching job at Healdsburg Junior High.  We love this area, especially the weather. Chico is just too hot, on our wedding day the temperature was 116°; my relatives from Idaho and Montana still haven’t recovered.

Favorites

Hobbies

Kayaking, reading, knitting, all kinds of crafts, golfing now and then.

Music

I’ve never been much of a music person. When my family has music on, I’m always asking them to turn DOWN the volume, but on a recent road trip to Idaho I discovered country music. (That’s about the only thing that you can pick up on the radio through Nevada.) Now if country music is on, I say turn it UP.

Books

Don’t have a favorite book, but I like mysteries the most.

Movies

I’m definitely not a big movie fan. A movie has to be really good if I’m going to sit and watch it for a couple of hours.

TV Shows

The shows I’m fanatical about taping (don’t you just love DVRs) and watching are The Closer, NCIS, and Survivor. I also own all eleven seasons of M*A*S*H* on DVD.

Drink at Starbucks

If calories didn’t matter, I would get a latte, but…since they do…I get a black coffee. The hotter and bolder, the better.

Places

My absolutely favorite place to be is Agate Beach at Patrick’s Point State Park in northern California, although anywhere near the ocean works for me. I could sit and watch the waves all day long.

Sports Teams

I have to say that I like most sports and watch a lot of them on TV. I don’t have one team I like the most, I’ll root for any team from our area. Baseball, football, tennis and golf are my favorites. My husband has recently got me interested in college football—Go Cal Bears. Sports I do not like and will not watch are soccer and basketball.

Life Scripture

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
